KDDI's Privacy Policy

KDDI may, in accordance with the terms of contracts and other provisions, give other telecommunications companies personal data on nonpaying customers, senders of commercial or other unsolicited e-mail (spam), or customers whose service has been suspended due to refusal to respond to requests for identification verification in accordance with Article 11 of the Act for the Prevention of Illegal Mobile Phone Use (Appendix 4-1).
For the purposes of preventing illegal contracts, the occurrence of nonpayment of charges, and other incidents, we may provide other mobile phone carriers with personal information (name, address, date of birth, identification documents, identification numbers, methods of forgery, contract screening results, etc.) related to forged or falsified identification documents submitted by customers or persons applying for a contract. (Appendix 4-1)

KDDI may provide the necessary personal data, in accordance with the terms of contracts or other provisions, or with prior consent from the customer, to other mobile phone carriers or PHS carriers involved in the implementation of Mobile and PHS Number Portability (MNP) or telecommunications carriers with whom we have entered into interconnection agreements.
KDDI may provide a customer's personal data (such as the location from which a call was placed, name, address, phone number, etc. of the customer), in accordance with the terms of contracts or other provisions, to organizations that deal with emergencies (such as the Police Agency, Coast Guard Headquarters or the Fire Department).

In the event that a customer files a complaint against KDDI regarding e-mail or SMS (C-mail) (hereinafter referred to as "e-mail, etc.") received by the customer, KDDI may, with prior consent from the customer, give other telecommunications companies personal data related to such filing. (Appendix 4-1) In addition, in the event that a line contractor with a telecommunications carrier other than KDDI who received e-mail, etc. sent by a customer files a complaint against such telecommunications carrier regarding the email, etc. sent by the customer, KDDI may, in accordance with the terms of contracts or other provisions, receive personal information on the customer from such telecommunications carrier. Based on the Installment Sales Act, KDDI provides and registers subscribers' personal information to the personal credit information reference center of which KDDI is a member (hereinafter referred to as "Membership Credit Information Center"). This information is used by the respective members of the Membership Credit Information Center and the individual credit information centers affiliated with the Membership Credit Information Center (hereinafter referred to as "Affiliated Credit Information Centers"; collectively referred to with the Membership Credit Information Center as "Membership Credit Information Center, etc.") for the purpose of investigating the subscribers' ability to pay and repay.
The information provided and registered to the Membership Credit Information Center is listed in Appendix 4-3.

After canceling the contract with a nonpayer based on the terms of contracts or other provisions related to KDDI mobile communications services due to grounds of non-payment, KDDI may notify the business operators listed in "Entities Notified" below of the personal data of nonpayers who have not payed rates or other payables.

With regards to provided mobile communications services, we may notify the carriers stipulated in "Entities Notified" below of personal data related to forged or falsified identification documents for the purposes of preventing illegal contracts, the occurrence of nonpayment of charges, and other incidents pursuant to the implementation of the confirmation of individuals based on Article 3 of the Act for the Prevention of Illegal Mobile Phone Use.

With regards to provided mobile communications services, we may notify the carriers stipulated in "Entities Notified" below of personal data [1] related to forged or falsified identification documents for the purposes of preventing illegal contracts, the occurrence of nonpayment of charges, and other incidents pursuant to the implementation of the confirmation of individuals based on Article 3 of the Act for the Prevention of Illegal Mobile Phone Use.

  Personal data related to the transmission of spam messages, etc. refers to information on a subscriber who KDDI has terminated the contract with by reason of the subscriber simultaneously sending e-mails to a large number of recipients in such a way that violates the Act on Regulation of Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail (Act No. 26 of April 17, 2002) or otherwise causes a risk of problems in the general transmission of e-mails.

In providing mobile communication services, KDDI may notify the business operators listed in "Entities Notified" below of the personal data of any subscriber whose use of KDDI services has been stopped due to their non-provision of personal identification required under Article 11 of the Act for the Prevention of Illegal Mobile Phone Use.

Upon receiving a report of complaint regarding e-mail, etc., KDDI may notify mobile phone carriers of the personal data in question, reported by e-mail etc. recipient(s), in order to prevent further problems in the transmission of e-mail etc. KDDI may also receive personal data of e-mail, etc. senders from mobile phone carriers.
