KDDI and Okinawa Cellular are pleased to announce a late December launch of the 'Walkman® Phone, Xmini', produced by Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Japan, Inc.. The 'Walkman® Phone, Xmini' features a super compact body and offers users a new experience in music enjoyment and new music style.
The 'Walkman® Phone, Xmini' provides customers who consider music a part of their lives with the pleasure of a mobile phone with full music functions and the joy of carrying a mobile phone that is part of their preferred fashion sense. The body design is minimal, which daringly eliminates the feeling of a typical mobile phone, and with an extremely small body (44mm x 75mm x 18mm) and neck strap that goes with the color of the body, the mobile phone has become a fashion item and provides a new music style.
This extremely small mobile phone possesses full music functions, including maximum storage capacity of 4GB, capable of holding around 2,300 EZ Chaku Uta Full® tracks, and Sony's high-sound-quality Clear Audio Technology, which provides clear audio quality and faithfully reproduces sound. The upper part of the slide incorporates a touch sensor, and this makes it possible to intuitively control music functions even if the device is closed.
Although the device is small, consideration was also given to easy of use as a phone, and features include easy-to-push hard keys and a sensitive mike.
Furthermore, the handset is compatible with the EZ Chaku Uta Full Plus™ service which is also expected to be launched in the latter part of December 2008. This service makes it possible to download AAC 320kbps tracks and satisfies the needs of customers who want to be able to enjoy high quality audio content.
