KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will introduce a new model of mobile phone to the iida designer lifestyle brand lineup in late July 2010. In addition, new LIFESTYLE PRODUCTS, including artfully designed accessories such as AC adapters and earphones, will be added to the product lineup.
The iida brand name comes from the first letters of the words innovation, imagination, design and art, and through collaboration with various designers and creators, the brand has come to embody these ideas and intentions. KDDI is striving to transform iida into a lifestyle brand that extends beyond mobile phones to include a wide range of items peripheral to mobile phones.
The new iida mobile phone to be introduced this time is the LIGHT POOL, which features a unique design that uses illumination and music to enhance the surrounding space. In addition to the mobile phone, six new LIFESTYLE PRODUCTS will be introduced, including items designed to heighten the enjoyment of the LIGHT POOL's illumination, as well as a variety of imaginatively designed AC adapters, carrying cases and earphones.
Furthermore, two concept phones, the PixCell via PRISMOID and the BOTANICA, are being introduced as part of the Art Editions project, which enlists the collaboration of contemporary artists to transform mobile phones into works of art.
The LIGHT POOL mobile phone and LIFESTYLE PRODUCTS will be on display at the KDDI Designing Studio located in Harajuku from July 14, 2010. They can also be viewed at the KDDI booth at the Wireless Japan 2010 exhibition, which is being held in Tokyo from July 14 to July 16, 2010 at Tokyo Big Sight.
