(Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Yoshiki Ishida; hereafter: "JPIX"), NEC BIGLOBE, Ltd. (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Hisao Iizuka; hereafter: "BIGLOBE"), NIFTY Corporation (Head office: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Imamura; hereafter: "NIFTY"), ASAHI Net, Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kimiya Yamamoto; hereafter: "ASAHI Net"), VECTANT Ltd. (Head office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Daisuke Arita; hereafter: "VECTANT") have agreed to jointly develop business to provide IPv6 Internet roaming service using native connection service to Next Generation Network provided by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereafter: "NTT-NGN").
According to this agreement, the six companies have established a new company "Japan Network Enabler Corporation" (hereafter: "JPNE") to jointly promote enterprise. JPNE has been created as a successor of "Broadband Access Exchange Planning Inc.", after the company changed its name to JPNE at its shareholders' meeting on August 30, 2010. "Broadband Access Exchange Planning Inc." as established by KDDI and JPIX in February 2010 and the six companies subscribed for the company's allocation of new shares prior to the shareholders' meeting.
IPv4, the current standard internet protocol, is anticipated to face shortage of addresses provided by IANA[1] in the near future. From April 2011, NTT-NGN is scheduled to start services adopting IPv6, which has a vastly larger address space and new features.
In order to provide most suited and convenient IPv6 internet connection services to users of NTT-NGN, JPNE will provide support for IPv6 internet connection business by internet service providers, as well as the environment for continuous internet connection after exhaustion of IPv4 address.
KDDI, BIGLOBE, NIFTY, ASAHI NET and VECTANT aim for spread and development of IPv6 at early stage by providing IPv6 internet connection service using JPNE's roaming service.
Corporate profile of JPNE is as follows.
