TELEHOUSE AMERICA (president: Yasushi Kubota), KDDI's American local subsidiary, will launch TELEHOUSE NEW YORK Chelsea on Monday, January 24, 2011 in New York, and begin providing data center services that meet the TELEHOUSE global standard.
With this launch, TELEHOUSE brand data centers will number 19 sites (approx. 118,000 m2) in 9 regions and 12 cities worldwide.
TELEHOUSE NEW YORK Chelsea will be the fourth data center launched by TELEHOUSE AMERICA in the US. With 5,600 m2 of total floor space, it will be a large scale advanced data center. It will be located in Chelsea district, a redevelopment area in Manhattan Island, and as such will enjoy a high level of convenience via an environment abundant in infrastructure including traffic, electricity, and communications. Also, in addition to being fully equipped with a highly efficient power supply system, a UPS (uninterruptible power supply), and private power generation equipment for the unexpected event of a power failure, the facilities will adopt comprehensive security measures for entrance and exit control, with features including a security gate attended by security staff for 24/7. And the Network connectivity via a high speed backbone line to TELEHOUSE facilities already developed in New York, TELEHOUSE NEW YORK Broadway and TELEHOUSE NEW YORK Teleport facilities, will enable a high capacity connection to NYIIX [1].
