KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company will release the five new models of au smartphone "IS series", after late June, 2011.
The new models all feature Android™ 2.3 and common functions in Japan such as Osaifu-Keitai®, infrared light communication and e-mails (@ezweb.ne.jp) [1]. The new smartphones come in various colors. All models also support "WIN HIGH SPEED", [2] the expanded system that allows 9.2 Mbps downlink and 5.5 Mbps uplink speed at maximum.
"AQUOS PHONE IS12SH" comes with eight mega pixel twin cameras that can shoot 3D movies and 3D LED to allow users enjoy 3D experiences.
"AQUOS PHONE IS11SH" features a function to play 3D videos and is a slide-type smartphone with a numeric keypad. Users can choose from touch panel or numeric keypad according to the situation.
"REGZA Phone IS11T" features a full keyboard and mobile REGZA engine 4.0 to allow high-quality visual services.
"Xperia™ acro IS11S" is "Xperia™" customized for Japan with functions such as one-seg and Osaifu-Keitai®.
"G'z One IS11CA" is a smartphone with shock, water and dust resistant features.
Optional products for smartphones including AC adapters and portable battery chargers will also be released. In addition, covers specialized for "IS series" and produced from collaboration with fashion brands will be exclusively introduced at "au one Brand Garden", a fashion mail-order site directly managed by KDDI, at the time of model releases.
The new models of "IS series" will be displayed at KDDI Designing Studio in Harajuku, Tokyo, and au NAGOYA in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, from May 18, 2011.
