KDDI and Okinawa Cellular announced today that over one million users have registered for the au Smart Pass service since it was launched on March 1, 2012.
In addition to offering unlimited downloads of more than 500 popular applications, au Smart Pass provides members with coupons and shopping points, provides 10GB of storage space for photos and movies, and offers comprehensive security and support. The service, which is available for a monthly fee of 390 yen (tax included), has been well-received by users of all ages, both male and female.
The range of services has steadily expanded since au Smart Pass was launched, and a free bicycle insurance service was added on May 1, 2012. In addition, new downloadable applications are regularly added, and coupons are updated weekly, offering discounts and reward points for a wide range of establishments, including restaurants, convenience stores, hotels, and online shops. There are also plans for additional services such as special sales for registered members.
Going forward, KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will continue to expand the range of applications and services offered, while providing an environment that allows customers to securely and comfortably enjoy the applications and services they appreciate, regardless of whether they are smartphone newcomers or experienced users.
