Wholly-owned subsidiaries of KDD -- KDD America, Inc. (main office, New York; president, Hiroshi Hirai), KDD UK Ltd. (main office, London; president, Toshio Takahashi), KDD Deutschland GmbH (main office, Dusseldorf; president, Tokuji Mitsui), and KDD TELESERVE, Inc. (main office, Tokyo; president, Kantaro Nakaoka) -- will jointly launch Globridge, international leased circuit resale service, in all service areas of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan.
KDD America obtained authorization from the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) on September 17 to begin international leased circuit resale service between Japan and the United States. Combined with existing services between the United States and the United Kingdom and between the United States and Germany, the United States-Japan link will make it possible for the KDD group companies to offer service between Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.
KDD America, Inc. will submit to the FCC the details of the terms of the service between Japan and the United States, and the service will begin when the FCC puts the terms into effect.
KDD America, Inc., KDD UK Ltd., KDD Deutschland GmbH, and KDD TELESERVE, Inc. will install access nodes in New York, London, Dusseldorf, and Tokyo, respectively, and the nodes will be connected by international leased circuits to form the Globridge network. The KDD group companies will work as one to help customers build international networks.
The KDD group is prepared to offer customers end-to-end support. More specifically, besides the overseas companies mentioned above, the staff of KDD group including Telecomet group and TELEHOUSE group will enable customers to apply for, be billed and receive customer assistance and support for their whole international telecommunication networks through a single window. This service should prove extremely convenient for customers seeking to build an international network.
KDD provides WorldSource, a service catering to multinational corporations, in collaboration with such carriers as AT&T and Singapore Telecom. In comparison, Globridge caters to customers who wish to build an international network connected to relatively limited number of destinations.
