Quality Motion, a technology developed by KDD, is a video transmission method that allows users to transfer high-quality video and audio even at an extremely low speed (28.8 kbps, the data speed of a conventional telephone line) over the Internet. Compared with existing methods, Quality Motion offers higher resolution and smoother video motion.

KDD has been distributing a browser software with only video capability and a sample video on its home page since January this year. Customers who have watched the video have praised its quality.

By adding voice capability to the high-quality video feature, KDD has made Quality Motion even a more powerful video tool that can be used for a wide variety of applications.

Quality Motion allows a business to offer a sample tune from a new CD, show a preview of a new movie or video, or distribute a promotional video of an upcoming event on the Internet conveniently without sacrificing quality.

When compressed in the Quality Motion format, a lengthy video can be stored not only on a CD-ROM, but also on a less expensive media such as a floppy disk. Sony, for example, has used Quality Motion on a trial basis to store a promotional video of its business equipment show on a single floppy disk, whose copies it will distribute to concerned parties.

KDD will demonstrate the new Quality Motion system with audio capability at "'97 TELECOM JAPAN" to be held at Ikebukuro Sunshine City in Tokyo from May 28 to 30 and at "Asia TELECOM 97" to be held in Singapore from June 9 to 14.
