KDD to start "Domestic-International Mutual Use Discount" and "Fixed Wireless Access" in its Leased Circuit Services

Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co. Ltd. (KDD) and Teleway Corporation (Teleway) filed today with the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications a notification of the tariff for "Domestic-International Mutual Use Discount" and "Fixed Wireless Access" in their Leased Circuit Services to be provided by KDD Corporation after the planned merger on December 1 this year. The new features are to be brought into operation from the same date.

1. Domestic-International Mutual Use Discount

Customers using both domestic and international leased circuits provided by KDD Corporation will be eligible to "Domestic-International Mutual Use Discount," a discount plan, first to be put into effect in Japan, under which they can enjoy discounts on all of their leased circuits, both domestic and international.
The plan allows a 5% discount on domestic leased circuits at any speed, 15% on international leased circuits at 56kbps to 384kbps, and 30% on those at 512kbps to 6Mbps.
A combination with some other discount plan now in service such as Fixed-Term Discount or High-Usage Discount can maximize the savings by 35% on international leased circuits at 56kbps to 384kbps, 46.5% on those at 512kbps to 6Mbps, and 21.4% on domestic leased circuits.

2. Fixed Wireless Access (FWA)

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) will be newly added to domestic and international leased circuit services.
The option gives customers direct access to KDD Corporation via the wireless link, without making use of any tie lines hired from NTT or other local carriers.

FWA will be available at the speed of 64kbps to 6Mbps, with the uniform monthly charges of 188,000 yen irrelevant of the speed, which is a significant cost saving on high-speed circuits compared with NTT or other local carriers.
Service areas initially are limited to those surrounding KDD Building (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) and KDD Otemachi Building (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), and will be expanded in due course.

International Leased Circuit	Hi-BITLINK (56kbps to 6Mbps)
Domestic Leased Circuit	High-Speed Digital Transmission Services (64kbps to 6Mbps) Analog Leased Circuit Services (Voice, Data)

(2) Enrollment Qualification:

Use of at least one circuit in each of the above international and domestic leased circuit categories.

(3) Discount Rate:

International Leased Circuit	56kbps to 384kbps	15%
	512kbps to 6Mbps	30%
Domestic Leased Circuit		5%

2. Fixed Wireless Access

Available Speed	64kbps to 6Mbps
Service Area	KDD Building (Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) KDD Otemachi Building (Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) planned to be further expanded
