KDDI Corporation
KDDI made an additional investment in Mojo Vision, (Headquarters: California, USA; CEO: Drew Perkins; hereinafter "Mojo Vision"), the Invisible Computing company and developer of the firsts true smart contact lens, "Mojo Lens", through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III") which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.
Mojo Lens is a contact lens with a built-in display that provides users with timely information, without interrupting their work to stare at the screen. Mojo Vision has already been working with Menicon Co., Ltd., the Japanese contact lens manufacturer, and is partnering with sports brands such as Adidas, aiming to create a new market for this completely new type of smart device.
In addition to that, Mojo Vision has been selected to the Disney Accelerator program to study the possibilities to adapt their technology to Disney's business.
KDDI invested in the company for the first time in 2020 and has been building a cooperative relationship. We have now participated in a fundraising led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA).
Through this investment, KDDI will actively support Mojo Vision's entry into the Japanese market by leveraging KDDI's support structure.
As "the company that customers feel closest to," KDDI will promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies and create new business models together with customers and partners.
