February 28, 2023
KDDI Corporation
KDDI invested in NOT A HOTEL Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shinji Hamauzu; hereinafter: "NOT A HOTEL"), a Proptech startup that offers a new way to own a home, through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III"), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.
NOT A HOTEL provides a platform that enables customers to own interoperable properties as assets like a home or a second home by purchasing a share in 10-day units. Sales of flagship properties started in September 2021, and sales have exceeded 4 billion yen from the starting year. NOT A HOTEL is developing its business with a constantly innovative approach, such as starting sales of the right to use as NFTs in August 2022. NOT A HOTEL AOSHIMA was completed in November 2022, and NOT A HOTEL NASU in December of the same year, and together started operation.
Through this investment, KDDI supports the business growth of NOT A HOTEL, a developer with a vision of "making the world more exciting." Through collaborative efforts with the KDDI Group, KDDI will assist in increasing and expanding NOT A HOTEL's purchase channels and means, thereby aiming to increase the number of owners.
As "the company that customers feel closest to," KDDI will continue to promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies, and create new business models together with customers and partners.
