KDDI Open Innovation Fund III Invests in Web3 Entertainment Platform Provider Modhaus
November 14, 2023
KDDI Corporation
KDDI invested in Modhaus Inc. (Headquarters: Seoul, Republic of Korea; CEO: Jaden Jeong; hereinafter: "Modhaus"), a Web3 entertainment platform provider, through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III"), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.
Modhaus is a startup which provides a new type of "supporting one's fave" experience for the Web3 era in which fans participate in and support the operation of idol groups.
Through its "COSMO" platform service, Modhaus delivers the latest information and sells various types of content pertaining to the idol groups "tripleS" and "ARTMS" that the company produces. Fans who purchase a digital photo card (NFT) on "COSMO" are provided a "voting token" which can be used to participate in votes held during important group decisions such as selecting the idol unit members, etc.
Going forward, Modhaus will continue to add new idol groups and expand links to idols and content that are not affiliated with Modhaus to create new forms of entertainment in which fans can connect with idols through "COSMO" and actively contribute to the growth of the groups they support.
Through this investment, KDDI will support the business expansion of Modhaus in the Japanese market by leveraging ties between the "αU" metaverse and Web3 service with "COSMO" as well as KDDI's knowledge of music and other forms of entertainment cultivated over the years.
As "the company that customers feel closest to," KDDI will continue to promote business co-creation through investment in promising startup companies, and create new business models together with customers and partners.
