On May 17, 2024, KDDI invested in UTAITE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Masashi Kurata; hereinafter "UTAITE"), a company engaging in the development and management of 2.5-dimensional IPs, through KDDI Open Innovation Fund III (operated by Global Brain Corporation; hereinafter "KOIF III"), which aims to incubate new business co-creations with promising venture startups.
UTAITE consistently produces and releases 2.5-dimensional IPs from Japan's new "entertainment economic zone" out to the world. In this age where individuals are actively involved in economic activities, the company aims to support creators' efforts and help maximize their opportunities to please customers by being a platform that promotes individuals' self-fulfillment.
Through this investment, KDDI combines UTAITE's 2.5-dimensional IPs with KDDI's assets to explore entertainment services aimed at realizing creator economy.
